I’m an Experience Designer, Consultant & Educator based in Portland, Oregon.
I’ve spent the past decade shaping how people experience products, teams, and systems. My work sits at the intersection of design, leadership, and education: where clarity, empathy, and strategy meet.
Most recently, I was a Lead Digital Product Designer at Nike, where my team and I designed the systems that power how Nike builds and manufactures consumer products. We streamlined complexity across global operations, designing cloud-based tools that made product development faster, smarter, and more human-centered.
Before Nike, I built and scaled UX departments across multiple industries, creating sustainable, inclusive processes that helped organizations move from chaos to clarity. Today, I lead equitabl agency, a human experience agency focused on designing and shipping exceptional products and the cultures that sustain them.
I’m also the CXO and Partner at The Inturnship, a creative agency that gives underrepresented emerging talent paid experience, mentorship, and a path into competitive design roles. (Over 70% of our Inturns go on to work full-time at companies like Nike, Google, and Disney, something I’m deeply proud of.)
Teaching remains one of my greatest joys. As Pro-Tem Faculty at the University of Oregon, I created and taught the User Experience Design Studio and Introduction to UX courses for both undergraduate and graduate students. In 2021, I was appointed by a board led by Don Norman and Karel Vredenburg to help redefine global standards for non-degree granting design education, an honor that reaffirmed my commitment to raising the bar for UX learning. Don Norman once remarked that “at least one course (Sonali’s) seemed worthwhile,” which remains one of my favorite professional compliments.
I also serve as Vice President & President Elect of TiE Oregon Foundation, where I lead and support initiatives supporting entrepreneurs, students, women, and early stage founders through programs like TiE Young Entrepreneurs and TiE Women. I’ve been a mentor, instructor, chaperone, coach, judge, and board member.
Outside of work, I’m a lifelong learner. I’m an active member of the Interaction Design Foundation, endlessly curious, and more than 2,000 days deep into learning French on Duolingo. When I’m not designing systems or mentoring designers, you’ll usually find me writing, exploring art and film, or spending time with my dog.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple goal: to design experiences: products, organizations, and cultures, that help people and ideas thrive.

– Teammate
“Giving someone another chance to be good at their job, and creating a genuinely nice team of people to be part of. Also for being an excellent manager, really one of the best I've ever had in a 30-year working life. Also for having a sense of humor in the corporate world, which seems be fading away rapidly. Also for being herself with her coworkers.”
